Victron Energy Blue Smart chargers are the new professional and intelligent battery chargers designed for boats. They allow you to monitor voltage and current, and optimize your battery for better performance and longer life span.
What does IP mean ?
It is a standardized index of protection against solids and water or liquid projection.
- The first number is for solids
- The second number is for liquids
For example :
The IP67 charger has as 1st index “”6 “”, it is thus hermetic to dust;
and its 2nd index “”7″”, it is protected against temporary immersion in water up to 1 meter.
|IP index||1° Chiffre :
Protection against solid objects
Protection against water/liquid
|0||No protection||No protection|
|1||Protection against solid objects > 50 mm in diameter||Protection against vertically falling water drops|
|2||Protection against solid objects > 12 mm in diameter||Protection against falling water drops at 15° from vertical|
|3||Protection against solid objects > 2,5 mm in diameter||Protection against falling water drops up at 60° from vertical|
|4||Protection against solid objects > 1 mm in diameter||Protection against water splashes from all directions|
|5||Protection against dust||Protection against water jets from all directions|
|6||Dust tight||Protection against strong jets of water|
|7||Protection against temporary immersion in water up to 1 m|
|8||Protection against temporary immersion in water over to 1 m|
|9||Protection against prolonged immersion in water over 1 m and against high-pressure cleaning|
|9K||Protection against prolonged immersion in water over 1 m and against high-pressure cleaning / food standard|
How to interpret the Victron indications of your Bluesmart ?
Ex. BlueSmart 12V / 5A
The first number is the voltage corresponding to that of your battery.
The second is the amperage : choose an amperage according to your battery pack and their technology.
For a lead-acid battery, choose a maximum charge of 0.2. For a 100 Ah battery, we will take a charger of maximum 20 A.
Some batteries accept higher loads, such as LiFePO batteries.
Do not forget to check this information on the information sheet of your battery.
Some models have a third indication: SI. This is the number of outputs.
The second output SI is limited in current and is powered as long as the charger is connected. It can for example be used to control the start up or not of another equipment.
What is the SMART function ?
It allows you to control and configurate your charger from your tablet or smartphone.
